1 out of 5 stars Disappointed.   April 3, 2008
It is the worse thing I ever bought. It is useless. Don't go near it.

2 out of 5 stars Not so hot!   March 3, 2008
I addition to the criticisms by others I find that the coffee produced is rarely really hot, the timer is useless - the clock is so inaccurate that you need to re-set it whenever it is used as it can be hours out and the automatic cut off operates randomly, sometimes when the coffee is still brewing. Don't bother.

I've moved around a bit so I've bought a few drip-coffee makers. Usually I buy the cheapest one in the shop - thinking it'll make coffee whatever it costs. In the US these go for $20, and do just what you'd expect - make a pot of coffee in 10 minutes.

This time - I thought I'd take a step-up, and buy a more expensive model thinking that I'd get what I paid for - so I shelled out the 30 for this one-big-disappointment. It looks nice and substantial on the counter, but it isn't - the only 'functionality' is a timer switch-on. The carafe drips on the counter when filling the reservoir with water, and mug with coffee.

I really wish I'd just bought the cheapest one in the shop again.

**6 MONTH UPDATE**

I had this coffee maker for 5 months or so before I realised it was taking longer, and longer to brew a whole pot. I bought this filter-machine because I wanted something quicker than the 20 minutes my percolator was taking. When I finally sent this coffee maker back to Amazon it was taking 1/2 an hour to brew a pot.

I bought one of these for the office (have a Gaggia Classic at home). Looked good in the pictures, stainless steel for 30. Sadly: jug dribbles, hotplate is very ineffective and now the main lid hinge has come undone. On top of all this the coffee isn't really worth the effort. It now lives in its box under my desk and I am scanning ebay for another gaggia for work. Morale of the story - you get what you pay for

3 out of 5 stars Unimpresserd   January 20, 2008
If this hadn't been a gift, it would have gone back. The lid of the machine is "floppy", the lid of the flask falls open when the coffee's poured and it's not easy to put the water in.

The temperature does appear spot-on however and, if you put a paper filter into the permanent plastic one, there's no problem with taint.
