The final word on interpreting the rules of golf February 5, 2008
Golfers know that the rules can sometimes be ambiguities and difficult to interpret. R&A receives lots of inquiries and it publishes its decisions and clarifications each year. Anyone who has taken the trouble to read through these decisions will be amazed by the odd situations that people have encountered. However most of the decisions are simple clarifications and/or interpretations concerning infrequent or rare situations (some situations can occur more frequently but the decisions are usually well-known). The decisions are explained and normally appear reasonable. I must admit I've never seen some of the more bizarre situations, e.g. a player concedes the next stroke and knocks the ball away along his own line of putt, or a ball being putted is hit by another ball played from another hole.
If you are a golfer, you simply need a copy of this book.
